Welcome to Chicago! While it may seem familiar to the one you are used to - let me warn you now - things aren’t always as they seem. Here times changed a little differently. Urban Legends and Myths weren’t just stories told to scare children, in fact those are very real here. Here the real fear comes from the ones controlling everything from the shadows, and those working to bring them down. Careful who you trust in these streets, never know who they work for.

WEREWOLF LEADER There is so much to be said about a man who can play nearly any part. A mastermind of adapting and improvising on the fly - his mind works faster then people give him credit for. It was however not due to his own doing did he end up as the Alpha of the Pack. It was something that was passed down to him from his father when he passed. They all told the pack he was ill and was unable to make it, but the truth lies in the form of vampires. Mind you - not in the traditional sense you may be thinking. No they used his father to protect their own leader, and lead hunters right to his doorstep. When Pewter found out he was livid, but his duties kept him from seeking revenge. Instead he is holding himself tall and proud as his father would've liked to see. Pewter is a very duty first kind of guy and will not let nonsense distract him from achieving his goals. He works first and makes time for himself second. While he was once a very bubbly man, the real world has shaped him into a much more calculating and serious person. This tends to keep people away at a safe distance, though deep down he is nothing but a soft hearted man that could use some tenderness himself.

MUTANT LEADER Life isn’t always ‘life, laugh, love.’ Sometimes life is lemons, sometimes it’s the claws of a monster hovering perpetually over your shoulders, ready to grab you when you fall, just so it can sink its claws into flesh. Mallory was born to human parents, who lived in a rougher part of a city a little north of Chicago. She would never say that her early childhood was happy — it was chaotic, and strangers were constantly in the house asking her questions she didn’t understand. From the perspective of a child, these things never quite make sense. The only thing she knew with absolute certainty, was that daddy was mean, and momma was even meaner. Life changed, however, when she was five years old. Her parents celebrated her birthday for the first time in her life, giving her a day of whatever she wanted to eat, whatever she wanted to do. Mostly, she just wanted cake, ice cream, and the opportunity to watch cartoons with her parents. And, for once, Mallory was given what she wanted without repercussions. Until… that night. They bundled her into the car and drove for a long time. Into the forest, up a winding road, through a checkpoint, and to a large building surrounded by a tall wire fence. What transpired that night, Mallory now understands. She was sold to a laboratory. She never saw or heard from her parents again. She doesn’t talk much about what happened inside those walls that became so much like a prison to her. But she will say that she… burned the damned thing to the ground. Leaving with a wall of fire rising behind her, Mallory never looked back. She was sixteen years old when she discovered that she could wield fire; and create it at will. She could control it — to an extent. Her life beyond her sixteenth year was touched by prejudice. People were scared of her, they didn’t trust her… they hated her. She, now homeless, set on a mission to find her childhood home. And, upon her twentieth birthday, she did. Her family no longer lived there, but instead, an elderly couple had taken up residence within the abode. While they were out one day, Mall set the house ablaze, burning every memory she had there as a child — especially the happiest memories she ever had, so tangled with the worst day of her life. At twenty-five, she found herself in Chicago. Resources allowed her to get a job, and eventually a car that she lived out of. A friend she made allowed her to put their address as her own so that she had a place to get her mail. Mall never took them up on the offer to be their roommate, however, she almost seemingly preferred to live in the back of the old Honda that she had bought from an older gentleman. At twenty-eight, two years ago, she started leading a small group, that grew far beyond what she’d ever imagined it could be. A safe space for mutants. While it’s no secret that Mallory is a little… Unhinged, for lack of a better term, she has a good heart and only wants her kind to prosper, instead of facing prejudice and hatred from humans and others. Mall, even though multiple offers have been given to her, lives now in a van that she bought and upgraded, parked off the beaten path near the school for mutants. No one is really quite sure why she prefers to live this way, as opposed to a house or apartment. She’ll never answer the question, even when it is asked.
talia kindler roleplayed by Moss
afab / she/her || loner werewolf (born)
pansexual twenty-eight
Her parents were the alpha pair of her home, and let there be no disillusions… her mother ruled the pack. Talia was a princess in her own right, but it was never something that was truly discussed. She was held to certain expectations: good grades, be a social butterfly, learn to lead, marry in her own kind, and eventually take over her natal matriarchal pack. But life has a way of doing strange things to us, and often… children don’t have the aspirations their parents hold them to. Talia never wanted to lead. Which was probably why when her mother took ill her senior year of high school, Talia decided then to go away for college. She was accepted into a prestigious private university a couple states above her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Quick-witted, sharp-tongued, intelligent and above all… independent, it was little wonder Talia didn’t want the imposed aspirations of her parents. She fled, she chose an act perceived as cowardice (staying in university) when her mother passed away in her third year. She stayed committed to herself, and in all rights, abandoned her family and pack. Upon her graduation with a bachelors in Biology, Talia was told by her father to never come back to Baton Rouge. She stayed in the college town she was in for a while, before making a risky decision and moved to Chicago at twenty-eight-years-old. Excommunicated and alone in the world, Talia… felt free. She lives by herself now, but secretly pines for a place where she feels she belongs.
Victoria Hale roleplayed by jellify [Toni/lalisa]
female, she/her || lone vampire
bisexual twenty-seven || pyrokinesis
She was born a normal human. She had a normal childhood, but her parents were very strict and not very accepting of her sexuality. Good student, good grades, graduated college and became a pharmacy technician. That all changed only a few months ago. Vicky was walking home from work at night when it came out of the shadows. He intended to drink her blood, she was sure. She was lucky to come out of it with enough left to survive. All that remains from that encounter is the bite mark still shining on her neck. And the child in her belly. She found out very shortly after. At first, she thought her constant hunger but almost as constant nausea was because of it. She only put two and two together after she had the urge to drink her friends blood after a minor injury. Terrified, pregnant, and alone, Vicky made her way here, where she'd heard rumors of acceptance. Here, she would be safe. At least, she hoped.
Faina Nikolaev Roleplayed by Avalore
female, she/her || solo mutant
heterosexual twenty-four || plant manipulation
Having begun her life with no name but some letters and a number, Faina’s earliest memories consist of a pristine facility in the middle of Russia where people in white coats would take care of the children inside. The adults followed through a daily routine of feeding and caring for the children - only to torment them hours later. By six, she was no stranger to needles and the pain that followed their injections, and the tests were run every other day. At ten, she’d her most severe reaction to these - though, it would appear that was enough. They’d reduced their research with her to blood tests, analysis, and outside time. In this time, she’d discover a draw to the nature around her. The grass swayed as she willed it, branches would twist at her command to give her ample shade.
Faina had her powers, and the white coats would let her practice these. Every other month, she’d get brought back for another test, and following she’d see an increase in her abilities' use and control. Yet, it was painful - and in her opinion, truly not worth it. At 13, she asked for her freedom, but they wouldn’t release her from the fenced confines of the facility. It was only when an external group had broken in that Faina would get to experience the world beyond. The group rescued a number of children held captive by the facility, and would take them back to their own base to begin to work towards ensuring a safe future for each of them. It was there that they were all properly named and designated a new home and life. “Faina Nikolaev” was set to go stay with her grandparents in Chicago, Illinois.
The plane ride was one full of anticipation, but when she landed, Faina was met with a very large relief that it didn’t take her long to find the couple amidst the crowd of people and the noises she didn’t recognize. The elderly couple took her in, taught her English, and raised her up like their own until she turned 18. They were then to move - relocating to retire from their time providing safehouses for experimental escapees. They would sell their home, but left Faina some spare funds and a two-story building that the man had owned on the east side to renovate. The second floor would become her home, and the first was turned into the White Clover Café - a business that served all who entered, while specifically garnering through word of mouth its reputation as a safe-place for the supernatural in the city, offering a restricted lounge to those who knew the key phrase.
