Welcome to Chicago! While it may seem familiar to the one you are used to - let me warn you now - things aren’t always as they seem. Here times changed a little differently. Urban Legends and Myths weren’t just stories told to scare children, in fact those are very real here. Here the real fear comes from the ones controlling everything from the shadows, and those working to bring them down. Careful who you trust in these streets, never know who they work for.

Everything was the same as it was day after day. The days were starting to grow longer and longer as the leaves starting to change colours. The forests were starting to chill and animals had started to hide, so what better time to come and enjoy the city life. Hands in his pockets Pewter was bundled up in simple jeans and a black shirt coloured by a stereotypical autumn sweater. He hadn't made a real trip into the city for a while. He had been keeping to his little apartment on the outskirts, trying to keep his composure. He was still a little on edge. Hunter, vampires, he hated them both right now and it was taking a lot of self control to not try and hunt them down and extract revenge for his father.
A sigh escaped the man as he shuffled over to a park bench, tossing his body down into it with a small grunt. Maybe he could be productive while he was out here, maybe he would just waste his time people watching. After all he was on a small vacation from work at the moment, so it was no harm to him regardless of his choice.
Victoria needed some space. That apartment was... terrible, to say the least. Too cramped, especially now that she needed more space - for the baby when it came, and for the baby now as it increasingly took over her frame. And maybe a walk would help with the hunger. Real food didn't even make a dent any more, she'd need blood sooner rather than later.
So the park was where she went. And the bench was looking really good. Someone else just sat down, and, ugh, he smelled a little weird. But it was certainly better than sitting on the ground and standing wasn't an option for much longer. Carefully, she sat herself down on the opposite side of the bench of him, trying not to call too much attention to her self.
Admittedly the man had been so far off in his own little head world he hadn't been paying attention, but the soft movement of the woman beside him caught his sensitive hearing and he turned his head lazily her way and noticed the large swell of her belly. Great he sure picked well, now he seemed like the rude one. Just his luck wasn't it. Then again, maybe he could talk his way out of it and just shuffle himself from the situation.
"Oh my bad.. I wasn't paying attention, I didn't mean to interrupt.." he apologized, hesitating cause he wasn't even sure what he might have even been interrupting - but ah well what's said was said at this point.
"Hm? Oh, no, you're not interrupting anything." She tried a smile, and pulled the sleeves of her sweater over her hands to hide her nerves. This bench was cold, and even though it wouldn't cause her any damage, it was still vaguely uncomfortable. She shifted her weight. "I can leave if you'd like- you were here first, I'm the one that's interrupting."
Blinking for a moment or two the man had to try and think if she was there first or if he was. Not that it particularly mattered but he shook his head in response, "What kind of man would I be if I made a woman move from a public bench - not in my books." he chuckled softly. He was assuming she was expecting - but then again it would be rude to say that out loud. "Are you doing okay tho? you seem a tad chilly there?" he inquired.
She was looking him up and down, trying to piece together the odd vibes she was getting from him. Maybe it was just the hormones. He wasn't necessarily unattractive. "Oh, yeah, the bench is just kinda cold and these leggings aren't the thickest. Don't worry- I'll be up in a minute or two and out of your way. I just needed to sit and catch my breath."
HIs eyes narrowed for the slightest of seconds, she was dodging something and that was clear to him, but what he wasn't to sure. Then again there was something just slightly off about this woman. Something he couldn't put his finger on. "You're completely fine. I promise I'm not the bench police," he chuckled for a moment before pausing, "I may be out of line.. but please tell me you have something more suitable for the colder days to come..?" he asked, growing slightly concerned for the woman.
Oh, God, now she was a charity case. She should just go. She made an attempt to get up, but failed because of how ungraceful she'd become in the past month or so. Please don't let him notice... "I'm not used to cold weather like this. I meant to go shopping but I haven't had the chance just yet."
He could hear the slight changes in her heart beat and pressed his lips together, that was a dead give away he was onto something and he had to hold back a deep sigh. Clearly her situation wasn't amazing and he would be shocked to know just how true that really was. "Well I am wasting time in the city today, if you need someone to keep you company I wouldn't be against it. It might actually give me motivation for me to actually get what I needed to get.. instead of lounging around in the park being unproductive." he gave a small breath of a chuckle, keeping his tone light.
"Oh..." She rested one of her hands on her belly, considering. What was his angle? There has to be something more to this. "Well, I'm not really in a state to walk all the way to the store..." What if he was being ingenuine? No one was this friendly with a complete stranger without some ulterior motive.
There was a small breath that escaped at her comment about the trip to the store. He did not blame her in the slightest to be wary of a man she just met. "I mean you aren't in much of a state to be out wandering the streets alone either. At least, the store will be warmer for you," he noted. Pushing himself from the bench he stretched out casually, "The name is Pewter, by the way." he introduced at last, realizing he may have forgotten that key detail here.
"While you're right, getting there is the problem." She watched him warily. His movements pushed more of that weird... almost wet dog like smell more closely to her. Uneasy, she put her other hand to join the first one her belly, almost protectively. "And my name is Victoria." Another little shiver ran through her. "It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you as well, Victoria." he nodded and noted her shift in behavior. It was bugging him a little that he couldn't place what was off about her, but he was about to ask or press anything that might make her uncomfortable. "There are plenty of cabs, you can pick the mall even.. I just don't feel okay leaving you alone in the cold," like this. he thought to himself. Hopefully she would humor him and he could get her out of the cold and maybe just send her home after.
"Well..." She gave a real smile, and her just slightly longer than average canine teeth were visible. "Alright, I don't see why not. Thank you for keeping me company. I'll call a cab." Vicky took out her phone and tried to find the ride share app she had. "Thank you, truly."
It was a quick glimpse and the man tensed up slightly as he watched her relax ever so slightly. Everything in his body shifted but he forced a polite smile onto his lips, "Sounds like a plan". There was no reason for him to distrust her yet, it was his own personal vendetta - there was such a slim chance she had anything to do with his father but the unease wouldn't leave the pit of his stomach. "Anything in particular you were thinking about grabbing?"
