Welcome to Chicago! While it may seem familiar to the one you are used to - let me warn you now - things aren’t always as they seem. Here times changed a little differently. Urban Legends and Myths weren’t just stories told to scare children, in fact those are very real here. Here the real fear comes from the ones controlling everything from the shadows, and those working to bring them down. Careful who you trust in these streets, never know who they work for.
09/27/23 Inter Alios is offically opening it's doors to the public! Please feel free to look around and join us! We will also be available over on Discord , so come say hi!
"Well, obviously a winter coat." She didn't seem to notice his unease, settling down a little more despite how the cold was biting at her. "Maybe some food. I've had a craving for steak lately."
Each new comment caused him the slightest unease and he simply nodded back at her. "Those are both very reasonable requests. I know a steakhouse not far from one of the malls - if that would interest you. Shop a bit and then finish strong?" he suggested, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
He smelled different now, a little bitter. Was that nervous or angry? She could never tell them apart. "Sure, sounds good to me." She tried to get up. "I'm sorry, could you..."
His back was to her but but the sound of her voice it was obvious to him what had happened just out of his sight. Giving her a small smile he pulled his hand from his pocket and extended it to her. She would be heavier but he knew he would be able to handle it well. "Don't worry about it."
"Thanks." She stood up, using his hand to brace herself a little. His hand was so warm... and he smelled so WEIRD. What was this guy? Now that she was a little closer, she could smell his breath. It reminded her of the big German shepherd she had as a kid; he always had gross breath. She tried not to cringe. "Yeah, thanks."
He was not phased as she used his hand to support herself and stabilize herself. It was clear she was noticing something, probably about him if his own suspicions were correct. This was amusing if he had to be honest. He let a breath of a chuckle escape and his shook his head, "No worries. Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself now."
Once they had arrived at their destination and started walking around he glanced over at her question and gave a small shrug, "I mostly work in construction. It pays well enough and keeps me pretty busy." he explained, "I take it you are off work currently?"
"Yes." She glanced around their surroundings to make sure she was safe. "Just for a little while. I'm fortunate to have a bit saved up so I'll be okay until the baby comes and I can get back into work. Construction sounds fascinating. Do you enjoy it?"
